At five, she started to feel. And he started to drift away.
At eight, when she went to him, he had no words for her. She felt his distance, and it chilled her heart. She blamed herself.
At twelve, when her loneliness threatened to drown her, she closed herself off. Built herself armor of tarnished steel, shielded herself with the reminders of broken promises and burnt bridges.
At eighteen, she packed her bags and left, and he said nothing. The look in his eyes said enough. She had always been self-destructive in some ways, and she opened herself up to feel. The force of his hatred knocked her breathless.
She left, and looked back at nothing but her own memories.
